Snippet of his Life.

Othneil Vashawn Lammie, is a Jamaican Youth Ambassador, Activist and Advocate who has been involved in youth development at an age as early as eight (8), when he became the Ambassador for the Nexx Stepp Lifelong Educational Services. He was born on December 25, 2005, in St. Thomas Jamaica, to Valrose Matherson and Calbert Lammie. He has been excelling from then all throughout his prep school years at the St. Thomas Hill-View Kinder Prep School, not only in academics but in leadership qualities and skills. In 2015 He was announced as the most involved child in School and community services in his parish by the Custos of St. Thomas - The Honorable Custos Rotolorum Marcia Bennett. By the time he was 15 in 5th form at the Morant Bay High School, he had already attained a diploma in Theology awarded by the East Jamaica Conference of Seventh Day Adventists, and a number of responsibilities in and around his, school, community and parish, namely:

  • Former Assistant Youth Mayor for the Parish of St. Thomas (alongside Damor McQueen)

  • Youth Member of Parliament for Eastern St. Thomas (NYPJ - National Youth Parliament of Jamaica 2020 - 2022)

  • Youth Opposition Spokesman with portfolio in the Ministry of Labour and Social Security (NYPJ)

  • Political Advocate in the Office of the Political Ombudsman - PARI - Political Awareness and Respect Initiative.

As it relates to his talents: Mr. Lammie, plays the piano, sings, draws all very well. Passionate about public speaking and a very eloquent one too. 

Mr. Lammie is currently 16 years old and is studying at the Morant Bay High school in Jamaica, while managing all responsibilities listed above simultaneously. He continues to excel academically and in every other area of his life. 

His dream is that the youth of his parish and country at large can become more optimistic, and realize that they can still become who and what they want to. He's guided by the philosophy:

When they stand, you be outstanding, If they're outstanding, you set the Standards."

He is appealing to his fellow youth and colleagues, to look in a positive and upward direction.
